Today being a volunteer fire fighter is a lot more than just running into burning buildings.
There are many more aspects to it. We do fund raising work. We work with the schools
and students to teach fire safety lessons. We are very much involved in many aspects of
our community. If your idea of fun is not "FIGHTING THE BIG ONE", there are many more activities you can be involved with to support your community. The rewards are outstanding. Plus, you will gain a sense of pride in your community and your self. Brief summary of memberships to Brentwood Volunteer Fire Company:
QUALIFICATIONS
Any resident of the borough of Brentwood or any resident living within .one half mile outside of Brentwood Borough may apply. Applicant must be 18 years of age or over, of good moral character and willing to comply with and abide by the By-laws and Regulations of the Brentwood Volunteer Fire Company are eligible for membership upon graduation from high school or a G.E.D. program
REGULAR ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP (Fire and Rescue)
No fire fighting experience is required. We will pay for your training. To achieve regular active membership all candidates must pass a specified physical examination. The expense of which shall be paid for by the fire company, not to exceed $50.00. It is also required to obtain a security background check from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania at the candidates expense, cost is $10.00. A three month auxiliary probation period and one year regular probation period are required. During the auxiliary probation period, a member is entitled to all benefits of membership in the Company for which they qualify, except for
voting rights on all company matters. After auxiliary probation is served, the Company then votes on the member, to either accept or reject the member for regular probation of one year. . There are yearly dues of $3.00 and initiation fee of $5.00.
SOCIAL MEMBERSHIP
To achieve Social Membership, candidates must serve a probation period of 12 months, while contributing assistance to the betterment of the fire company, i.e.; Carnivals, Fund Drives, Special Functions and Committees. Social membership is for the sole purpose of supporting Brentwood Volunteer Fire Company's morality and civic pride. There is a one time initiation fee of $25.00 and yearly dues are $10.00. All social members may enjoy all the privileges of the headquarters, and social functions of the company. Social members are not entitled to vote or hold elected offices in the company. However, social members can serve on committees benefiting the fire company.
LADIES AUXILIARY
Primary purpose is to support the fire company in any area which is called for, such as food preparation for fire department events, as well as supporting the fire fighters during and after a working fire detail. The Ladies Auxiliary also sponsors fund raising activities all year
long benefiting the fire company . There is an initiation fee of $10.00 and yearly dues of
$2.00. A security background check is required from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. If application is accepted, the member serves a six month probation period. After the probation
period, the members then vote on permanent membership.
JUNIOR FIRE FIGHTER
Applicant must attend Brentwood High School. Applicant must be of 16 years of age and in good health. Applicant must maintain a "C" average or above in school grades through out the school year. Applicant must provide 3 references at the time of application. All applicants will be interviewed with Parent or Guardian at fire station by the Junior Advisory
Group. All Applicants must successfully complete the Junior Orientation Program.
